This week I toured Loring Heights, it was long over due as I have an office on Peachtreet Street and usually drive up Deering from Northside Dr. The street named, “Brooklyn Ave”- called me. (I’m a sucka for all things “Brooklyn”) and I was not let down. It should have been no surprise I would LOVE the community, as their housing stock is a mixture of Bungalows, Ranch homes and much new Traditional construction. The home renovation trend is evident as you drive around, however there are very few homes available for sale- which mean, this community is “HOT“. Homes sell relatively quickly with a price range of the mid $200K to $1million! Obviously, there is something for everyone in this great community with easy highway access and close proximity to Atlantic Station (B.K.A. Shopping Grand Central!!) Selling a home today is a challenge. Selling a home with custom details is EVEN MORE a challenge. Today people prefer to keep things simple and run with the crowd. HGTV say’s ” Granite” is the way to go. The crowd buys Granite and all MOST buyers look for it in a home or think how they can add it.
Picture how I felt when I received a text from a client in a fabulous home, but had a high quality laminate counter.
Client: “I’m changing my counter tops”
Client: “I’m going with a copper. I’ve always wanted this”
Copper Counter Tops? I must admit, I have never seen then. I have two pictures of copper in my mind. The picture of the old fashioned shiny posts and roster shaped baking pans hanging on a great grandmothers kitchen wall, and the second NOT so pleasing. The ugly pennies stuck to the bottom of the cup holder in my car. Either way- this does not feel good to me.

Last week I had the pleasure of a walking tour in Ashview Heights. I stumbled on some really great deals – along with a few horrendous code violations, but even in the midst of them I was able to see what so many of you are missing out on.
I decided my next investment would be into this community. With homes going for as little as 6K, I can’t go wrong! Not to mention the newly re-established neighborhood association diligently working hard to put this community back on the map- Ashview Heights is my next “win-win” location.
