West End& 2 days of Malcolm X

Ok, ok.. I am really trying to slow done and NOT be “Johnny on the spot”, but who can resist living in such a festive neighborhood? We really are a family oriented community- and what i mean by this, everyone you meet is like family.
A 2min run to Krogers can take me 45mins after i run into and chat with 5people…no matter how hard i try to pull away! Its funny, you almost need to go outside the SW ATL to get a little “me” time but every time I venture into another side, I miss home. Almost like these active kids…can’t wait to get a break but as soon as they’re asleep, I’m creeping in rooms to ensure you’re still there and exactly how you should be.

This weekend was beyond busy with work(showing homes, adding signs, lockboxes, making flyers), the “Committed To Communities” event and squeezing in some studying ( forget house work) …the 2day Malcolm X festival was a perfect addition to show some support to a community event and relax.
(Atlanta certainly should take the prize as a city with MUCH to do during the spring/summer; it’s been nonstop rain or shine!)
…And, although it felt like I’ve been everywhere, I did miss a few awesome West End and Westview parties, volunteer opportunities… But there is always next week 🙂

Here are a few pics from today that caught my eye:
my hair stylist doing her thing, as usual (the Good Hair Shop.com), I don’t do tats but had to admire skills and ability to hold a steady hand, Leah breaking me financially-eating $3 icy& getting her hair done, a homeowner I helped and haven’t seen in months, Gabriel-our local artist/handyman, singers/dancers and Poets. I’m kicking myself because I can’t remember the name of this amazing artist. I think it was “Maryann M.” or “Mariam Maruba” ….

It was refreshing seeing everyone smiling, laughing, hugging and recognizing being “Blessed”.

I hope you enjoyed this weekend as much as I did….see you at the next event!

Summer fun in West End Atlanta

filled with plenty of community events and opportunity to meet new neighbors on another level.

Friday: SPACE ATL and the West End Merchant Coalition held a Networking Social from 6-8PM.  The successful event turned out both old and new neighbors, entrepreneurs, professionals, those running for election and even a few considering a move from the East to the SW 🙂 .  Special thanks to Capital City Bank for their continued support and assistance in renewing our SW ATL communities.

After the meeting a few of us were in for a special treat!  Thanks to Suna Om (local merchant, resident , friend and President of the Korean Chamber of Commerce) invited us to the Miss Korea Pageant. It was an amazing experience!

Saturday:  Work -work-work, as usual..but I was also able to get in some gardening; there may be some use in my lime-green thumb!  I planted this last year, and it survived!! Well, it came back (unfortunatly I can not say this for the other two, but something is better than nothing) SANY3547

Then, Malcolm X Festival.  What can I say? This event gets better and better each year! I was very impressed with many of the performers and vendors I have a few on the list for my next purchases.  My gang  loved to watch the martial artists perform (can’t remember what form they were doing- Cap..something but it’s beautiful to watch…like a fight in slow motion to music!)
