I’ve been watching the transformation of this beautiful home for a few weeks. It’s hard to believe this is also a home I put a bid on- and was disappointed to lose. I KNEW this would be a great deal for anyone looking in-town near the Beltline, and hoped I would have the opportunity to be apart of making someones dream come true.
From the time you step foot on the stairs to the grand entry, you know you’re in for a treat. The spacious front porch is ready to be filled with welcoming plants and to fall in line with neighboring homes. You are greeted by a solid wood door which opens to gleaming hardwoods. Straight ahead behind a French door is a hall leading to Master suite, secondary bedrooms and baths. To your left is a bright secondary room- most in our community are using this room as an office space or guest room (when needed)- some, are using this room as a “den”-(not wanting to take any attention away from their fireplace or built-in bookcase in the main livingroom.) Mines is a “catch-all” room…but it did begin as an office. To your right are beautiful picture windows facing both the front of the home and above the built-in bookcase, the side of the home. A large masonry fireplace stands demanding “center-stage” attention in-between two built-in’s. Imagine and hear the crackle of pine come winter. A second set of French doors open into a very spacious dining room- large enough to seat 12 or host a number of people for cocktails! The dining-room continues with gleaming hardwoods, picture moulding, ceiling fan, and built-ins for additional storage. My favorite is the butlers swing door opening to a Butlers Pantry and Kitchen. Who will send time in the kitchen of such a lovely home??– Well, I would- being that I have THREE kids…and what a kitchen? Lovely granite counters, ample wood cabinets and walk-in pantry ensures cooking for my rowdy crowd is a breeze..
A spacious laundry/mud room is right off the back deck and kitchen. The deck is the width of the home and is enclosed within a private backyard. I’m a bit jealous of the neighbors garden-but I’m sure the new owners of 1455 Lucile will NOT be like me, and this home will have a garden to admire too.
Heading back into the house through the kitchen, cutting through the dining room into the hall you can turn right and head back to the “Master suite”. A great retreat!! There are two walls of windows to receive great morning sun(this will help you wake up and make the most of your day), TWO closets- one walk-in (must be HERS) 🙂 a little sitting/dressing area and an enormous bathroom (the size of my sons nursery space). The master bath has double vanities and a beautiful claw foot soaking tub! I would never leave my room…. But, when you do- you can head downstairs to the daylight finished basement. The daylight basement has TWO additional rooms, plus a full bath. Make one a guest suite and the other an exercise or media space. I would certainly make use of an exercise room on concert floors because my treadmill is killing my hardwoods.
This home is worth an in-person tour, see for yourself how this could be the next best move you make!

Finally- I see some of the fruits of my labor…and this one was easy. It was as simple as having a motivated buyer untainted by the city prejudice views of many of our SW communities. OK, this is not so easy. My buyer- Larry Carter, currently the President of this emerging community. Larry and I met by referral, shortly after I closed another $25K “gem” in West End back in 2009. Larry not only had cash to buy, he had VISION because he knew his cash was up against investors with even more cash. While everyone was busy snatching up homes in Historic West End and Westview, Larry set his sights on a less desirable area- just 1 block away- Ashview Heights. Larry purchased a home that looked like it would be ready for tear down or a match….even I did not want to go in to show him LOL.. again, he was brave and with vision! Today it would be VERY hard to believe its the SAME home..he’s renovated it himself …slowly, weekly making it’s value triple the purchase price!
Take a peek into Ashview Heights and let’s make YOU my next blog story:
Welcome to Ashview Heights Atlanta’s downtown urban escape. Ashview Heights, a community along Atlanta’s Belt Line, is perfectly nestled between downtown Atlanta,West End, Westview and Atlanta University Center. Ashview Heights is Atlanta’s in town bright star; it offers suburban life in the city. We are a diverse community, ranging from single young professionals, families and seniors. Come get involved! We have the first edible garden on the Belt Line which each member of the community is welcomed to plant and grow their own herbs and vegetables.
Commute free-living! Working downtown? You can come home for your lunch break and be back to work on time. Oh the kids have Parent Teacher Conference? NO problem the local schools are near the heart of the community. M. Agnes Jones Elementary,Kipp Ways Academy,Kipp Strive Academy, Booker T. Washington High School are all less then a mile from our community.
Let’s talk to your future neighbors:
Larry Carter, Ashview Heights Association’s current president: I purchased my home in 2009 for 10,000 dollars. It was the best money I have ever spent! I have a five bedroom three bathroom home that is everything I need and more. I had to do a little work but it was a blank canvas I created my perfect home in the city. There is a sense of community here.
Debra Parker, Active Ashview Heights Association member: My family and I moved to Ashview Heights because we have always wanted to live near downtown. We looked in several neighborhoods surrounding downtown and made the decision to call Ashview Heights home. We love the history as well as the architectural detail of the homes. My kids are having a ball making new friends as well as taking advantage of the great programs that the neighborhood schools have to offer. We look forward to planting roots here for many years to come. We just have one question. Would you like to be our neighbor?
