SPACE ATL: Wesley Smith, Birthday Celebration Friday, July 10th

Come on out and celebrate my 30somethin?? birthday with me and the world renown visual artist, Merrill Robinson (he’ll be 30somethin?? as well).  I usually don’t make a big deal about the day I entered this crazy world but I figured with the opening of SPACE, I could bring myself to party a little.

We’ll have live music starting at 8pm from THE CHARLIE WOOTON PROJECT and later The Wizard representing the URBAN LEGENDS DJ’s will bring it home.  It’s gonna be a rockin time!!!

I look forward to seeing you.  Bring a friend or two, it’s all good!!!

Khe-Khe’s Jazz Resturant…believe the hype!

So I finally made my way to Khe-Khe’s (thanks Ayana for the invite). I went in with high expectations (since Westview residents talked it up…)…and I have to say, they EXCEEDED my expectations! This mother/ daughter team provided more than good conversation and food(I was too early for the music).

Anyway, I was a bit greedy. After doing that BeltLine canvassing for 5hrs- I was ready to EAT…so I did. I ordered baked Chicken, Potato salad, Blackeye peas and white rice (I told you I was hungry) Cabbage and yams!… I ended up taking some home (which was gone that night)..but guess the price…?? guess??… $8!!! I know- I was shocked too. Their “slap your mama” yams- had my husband rushing to Krogers to buy some, just to attempt to follow the recipe Ms Martha gave him (and between you and I…I’m SURE they will not taste like hers)…

Just being there felt like “home”…as we discussed Brooklyn (represent! lol… ), the housing situation, our youths and seniors. And did you know- Ms Martha- MARCHED on Washington, and knew Mrs. King? …….

Also, did you know – Westview is the home of a Jazz Artist? More on this later; we have all been invited to a show next week…..
